“Competitive Christians”
Romans 12:9-21
INTRO: Can it really be 20 years ago?
Biblical Parallels –
The Fact of the Body of Christ 1 Cor. 12:12-17 Romans 12:4,5
The Diversity of Ministry Within It 1 Cor. 12:28-30 Romans 12:6-8
The Overriding Requirement of Love 1 Cor. 13 Romans 12:9-21

Biblical Patterns – Paul’s frequent letter writing style:
“Since these things are true (Romans 1-11) …
“Therefore” – this is how we should live (Romans 12-16)
What Does Real Love Look like? Some essential elements include:
1. “Outdo” one another in showing honor. (v. 10)

- Don’t think of “coasting” on home. “Do not be slothful in zeal. n (v.11)
- Keep on serving the Lord by serving His people. (v. 12-13, Matt. 25:40)
CONCLUSION: I am an old man and I’m still learning lessons on “waiting.” It’s helpful to remember than in a Hebrew series, it runs from the lesser to the greater. Isaiah 40:29-31 Our greatest ministry may well be as we “keep on walking and not faint (lose heart, give up).”
