Generosity is a fundamental expression of worship of the Lord and a demonstration of a heart for Christ's kingdom. We know that God loves a cheerful giver. When you give to the Unified Budget, your giving directly supports all of the ministries of Dix Hills Evangelical Free Church, including our missions’ partners that we have joined together with to reach the world for Christ.
The only Ministry not supported by the Unified Budget is the Deacon’s Benevolence Fund. That is why there is a separate line on the Giving Envelopes for a Special Offering. The addition of this line makes it possible for you to designate a separate portion of your overall giving (above and beyond your designated weekly offering) to the Deacon’s Benevolence Fund which is used to care for people in financial need.
The following giving options are available to you:
Envelope Giving: If you prefer to give during service times, envelopes are available through the church office. These envelopes are best for cash gifts and they allow us to provide an accurate giving statement at the end of the year. Also, they are a reminder to you to be consistent and purposeful in your giving.
Online or Electronic Giving: We encourage you to utilize electronic funds transfer known as ACH (Automated Clearing House) Transfers. It is actually better for the church, as the processing fees are lowest on ACH transfers and the fee does not reduce the size of your gift. This option is preferred as it allows more of your dollars to go to Kingdom work and it greatly simplifies recordkeeping for the church.
Please be aware that the processing fees for Debit Cards are higher than ACH Transfers and Credit Card fees are much higher. Also, the fees on Rewards Credit Cards are the highest because DHEFC is charged for the reward points that you receive.

Frequently Asked Questions:
Why do we give? "Honor the LORD with your wealth, with the first-fruits of all your crops…"(Proverbs 3:9) Jesus taught that our money is an indicator of our hearts and Paul taught that if we are loved by God and love Him in return we would give cheerfully, sacrificially, and regularly.
Dix Hills EFC teaches that God is the owner of everything, including our money and possessions. When we give, we give back to God what He already owns. Our giving is an indication of trust, discipleship, and commitment. We believe that “tithing” (giving 10% of your income) is a great starting point to learn generosity and God’s ability to provide for your needs.
We don’t believe that there is a prescribed amount that you are required by God to give. What the Bible does teach is that it should be 1) regular and consistent, 2) proportional to your income (%), and 3) that it should not be coerced or manipulated, but freely given.
How does my giving support the church? The Dix Hills Evangelical Free Church prepares and adopts an annual ministry plan. This plan is carefully prepared with detail planning spanning many months. A ministry plan is an operating tool that guides our church in ministry, missions, and operations. It is important that every member and attendee understand their God-given role in supporting the financial needs of the church through systematic giving to the church.
What is online giving? An Electronic Funds Transfer
Transfer (ACH) program and the Debit Card Option both allow you to make contributions directly from your checking accounts without having to writing checks. ACH transfers also allows giving directly from your savings account.
What is the advantage of online giving? It saves time! It saves work! It simplifies your life! You can avoid the hassle of writing and remembering checks. It can also help your consistency and faithfulness in giving. It also saves time because the gift is automatically recorded into our accounting software. The trustees don't need to count it; the financial secretary doesn't need to record it or deposit it. It is instantly where you want it to go and you still get an annual statement,
How is my Online Giving automatically deducted from my account? Once you authorize the EFT (ACH) transfer, your specified contribution is electronically transferred directly from your checking or savings account to the church's checking account. Options include a one- time, weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly transaction.
If I do not write checks, how do I keep my checkbook balance straight? Since your contribution is made at a pre-established time, you simply record it in your check register on the appropriate date, such as at the end of each month.
Without a canceled check, how can I document my contribution? Your bank statement gives you an itemized list of all electronic transfers. It is your proof of contribution. The church also records your gifts and sends you a record of your contributions on an annual basis. These records are appropriate for tax records.
Is Giving Online risky? Online Giving is less risky than handwritten checks. It cannot be lost, stolen or destroyed in the mail. It has an exceedingly high rate of accuracy and, is easier for the church accounting office to process.
How much does Online Giving cost? It costs you nothing and saves you time. The fee to the church is nominal.
What if I try Giving Online and don't like it? You can cancel your authorization at any time by clicking the Unsubscribe button. If you have questions about it, you can contact the office too.
What funds can I designate to? The amount that you have determined to be your weekly donation should all go to the Unified Budget Fund. Beyond that, if you are lead to give to the Deacon Benevolence Fund, then you should give an amount over-and-above your weekly donation. Likewise, you may also give an amount over-and-above your weekly donation to other ministries supported by the church.
Why does the church no longer support split designations of donations? Split donations were discontinued when the Congregation voted on a Unified Budget at the 2017 Annual Business Meeting. By doing so, the Congregation gave the Elders and Trustees the ability to use available funds where they are most needed. The Elders and Trustees are still mandated to fully support and fund each and every budget line so that every ministry will receive every dollar budgeted (providing that overall giving supports the approved budget).
