Generosity is an expression of worship of the Lord and a demonstration of a heart for Christ's kingdom. We know that God loves a cheerful giver. Your giving directly supports all of the ministries of Dix Hills EFC, as well as missions’ partners that we have joined together with to reach the world for Christ. Because the Bible encourages consistent giving in proportion to your income, you will have the opportunity to set up a reoccurring gift or a one-time gift. In addition, if you would like your gift split between two or more funds, this option is available as well.
As people are increasingly paying bills and conducting commerce over the internet, DHEFC has chosen to make giving online available to those who are interested. You are now able to set up both One Time or Recurring Gifts
We understand that some of you prefer not to use Credit Cards. If you would prefer to utilize electronic funds transfer known as ACH (Automated Clearing House) Payments that is an available option. It is actually better for the church, as the processing fees are lowest on ACH transfers...and are not a percentage of the gift. This option is preferred.
The processing fees are also lower for the church if you use a debit card instead of a credit card. Also, the fees on rewards cards are higher because DHEFC is charged for the reward points you receive on your credit card.
Give via envelopes
Envelopes are available through the church office if you prefer to give during service times. These envelopes are good for a few reasons. First, enable us to provide an accurate giving statement at the end of the year, including cash gifts in your total. Also, they are a reminder to you to be consistent and purposeful in your giving instead of haphazard. Lastly, they allow you to designate your gift to various funds.
You are free to give via the weekly offering in the worship service, by mailing your contribution into the office. We welcome you to give whatever God has called you to, however God has called you to.
Frequently Asked Questions:
Why do we give?
"Honor the LORD with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops…"(Proverbs 3:9)
Jesus taught that our money is an indicator of our hearts and Paul taught that if we are loved by God and love Him in return we would give cheerfully, sacrificially, and regularly.
Dix Hills EFC teaches that God is the owner of everything, including our money and possessions. When we give, we give back to God what He already owns. Our giving is an indication of trust, discipleship, and commitment. We believe that “tithing” (giving 10% of your income) is a great starting point to learn generosity and God’s ability to provide for your needs. We don’t believe that there is a prescribed amount that you are required by God to give. What the Bible does teach is that it should be 1) regular and consistent, 2) proportional to your income (%), and 3) that it should not be coerced or manipulated, but freely given.
How does my giving support the church? The Dix Hills Evangelical Free Church prepares and adopts an annual ministry plan. This plan is carefully prepared with detail planning spanning many months. A ministry plan is an operating tool that guides our church in ministry, missions, and operations. It is important that every member and attendee understand their God-given role in supporting the financial needs of the church through systematic giving to the church. Giving envelopes are provided to each church family upon request and provided in the church sanctuary & foyer.
What is online giving?
1. An Electronic Funds Transfer (ACH) program which allows you to make contributions from your checking or savings accounts without writing checks.
- A debit/credit card option for giving to the church.
What is the advantage of online giving? It saves time! It saves work! It simplifies your life! You can avoid the hassle of writing and remembering checks. It can also help your consistency and faithfulness in giving. It also saves time because the gift is automatically recorded into our accounting software. The trustees don't need to count it; the financial secretary doesn't need to record it or deposit it. It is instantly where you want it to go.
How is my Online Giving automatically deducted from my account?
Once you authorize the EFT transfer, your specified contribution is electronically transferred directly from your checking or savings account to the church's account. Options include a one-time, weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly transaction.
If I do not write checks, how do I keep my checkbook balance straight? Since your contribution is made at a pre-established time, you simply record it in your check register on the appropriate date.
Without a canceled check, how can I document my contribution?
Our bank statement gives you an itemized list of electronic transfers. It is your proof of contribution. The church will also record your gift and send you records of your contributions on an annual basis. These records are appropriate for tax records.
Is Giving Online risky?
Online Giving is less risky than handwritten checks. It cannot be lost, stolen or destroyed in the mail. It has an extremely high rate of accuracy and, is easier for the church accounting office to process.
How much does Online Giving cost?
It costs you nothing and saves you time. The fee to the church is nominal.
What if I try Giving Online and don't like it?
You can cancel your authorization at any time by clicking the Unsubscribe button. If you have questions about it, you can contact the office too.
What funds can I designate to?
